I’m Jim, the photographer behind Charlie James Photography, a Milwaukee based studio specializing in bold, story driven portrait and personal branding photography.

I didn’t stumble into this craft, I built it. Frame by frame. Mistake by mistake. What started as curiosity turned into an obsession: using light, contrast, and grit to capture real human stories.

My style is defined by bold contrast, honest emotion, and lighting that fuses technical skill with soul. I don’t take photos… I make them. Every session is active, intentional, and designed to bring out what’s true about you and your brand.

Working with me isn’t about posing perfectly. It’s about collaboration, being present, exploring ideas, and building portraits that feel alive.
